I am conducting research on the command flags carried by Maj. Gen. Alexander McD. McCook and by Col. Daniel McCook (of the 52nd Ohio) in 1862-1863. Does anyone know if these flags are still in existence or may be now kept within the surviving, desendant families? Each man was authorized to carry at least two separate versions of these flags, beginning in December of 1862 and then later from April of 1863. I would be most appreciative for any information.
