Hello. Not certain this will help. I am a descendant (& family genealogist) of the McConnell's and Hineman's. My great, great grandfather being David McConnell, who married Catherine Hineman. My family research show's that my McConnell's seem to descend from an Alexander McConnell who in 1755 obtained land around Cecil Twp., Washington Co., Pa. a branch of the family from a john b. McConnell lived in Beaver Co., Pa and branches of his family lived in Mercer Co., Pa. Catherine Hineman's father John Hineman, died in Allegheny Co., Pa around 1829-30. His son john Hineman Jr. married Mary Magdalene McConnell, daughter of John B. McConnell of Beaver Co., Pa.& a John McConnell witnessed the Last Will & Testament of John Hineman, Sr. John Hineman, Jr and wife Mary Magdalene McConnell went up to Venango Co., Pa to live. John B. McConnell & my David McConnell appear to be the son's of William McConnell & Mary Magdalene Bernhisel/Bernthusel of Lancaster Co., Pa who moved west to Washington Co.,Pa. after the Revolutionary War. They went on to Trumbull Co., Ohio by 1801. Alexander McConnell of Washington Co., my David McConnell and William McConnell of Lancaster Co., Pa are all Y-DNA linked (66 out of 67 DNA markers the same. Additionally, my "Hineman" cousins are DNA linked to the "Hindman's" (John Hindman)who arrive in charlestown, South Carolina in 1772, from Antrim, Ireland and to a Patrick "Hyndman" who descendaed from the Hyndman's of Antrim, Ireland. Thus all these spellings are of the same family.
