Hello Phil

Good to hear from you across the oceans. I haven't heard of William Henry McConnell and those names do not appear to be family names. I have had contact with a Raymond McConnell who has the same DNa as myself. His family come from Ireland. On the basis of the DNA it is likely that he is related to me somewhere. My earliuest ancesot that I can trace was Hugh McConnell of Canongate Edinburgh who was registered in the 1841 Census for Scotland aged 21 years. I suspect but I have no evidence to support it that his ancestry was from Ireland. When i sent my DNA sample to be analysed I was hoopin g that it would be the same as the chiefs of Clan Donald but it was "I" which goes back much further than the chiefs DNA. It would be appear that, maybe my ancestor married a McConnell/MhicDomnuill woman or adopted the name for whatever reason.. Either way I am descneded from Macdojnlds on my mother's side as well as Macleans etc. My grandparents were born on the Isle of Tiree, Argyllshire.
Let me know if you receive this - in the meantime My Best Wishes.

Beannachd leat (Blessings)

Gordon
