Hello John
I hope you read Kirsten's posting regarding my ancestry. Family oral information states that my McConnells came from Ayrshire but before that there is no information regarding its origins altohugh it is supected after DNA analysis (similar to Ray McConnell's) that it may be Armagh hence this posting. Most of my McConnells male ancestors were named John except for a Hugh, my g.g. grandfather, who was born in Edinburgh. There was never any mention of an Irish connection but as time passed there would not have to be or at least considered of little importance. There is a strange irony about aqll this in that my wife (nee Higgins) toured Ireland in 2003 and travelled through Armagh, a county of great IRA activity. The journey was quite chilling. Anyway, I hope that you reply to this and look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Gordon
