Emaline McConnell b. 16 Dec 1841 VA

I am having trouble finding my 3GGranmother's family. It seems her parents were killed sometime between 1844 and 1850. The first record I can find of Emaline is in the 1850 Census, Miller Co., Missouri where she is enumerated with Daniel Cummings and his family. Emaline's younger brother Manning is also listed in this household.

It is possible that this is a boarding house because there are three men also living in the same house with the Cummings family. Their names are John B Harrison, James Johnson, and George Wood.

There is a family "story" passed down that the family was traveling by wagon train to Missouri, attacked by Indians and Emaline's parents (among others) were killed. I have found no record of this event but that doesn't surprise me.

Do any of you recognize any of this?

Thanks in advance,
Dan Woodruff
