Hello Robin

I was interested to see your message about your ancestors name being recorded as McKondachy. As a fellow McConnachie I too have encountered this problem as well as the regular use of William, James etc. I have also found McOnachy etc. It does make it difficult to find the right "branch" of the tree.

My family also belong to the Glenrinnes area but have mainly remained in the area until the present day. So far I have traced my family back to a farm called Balandy (again many spellings exist as well as various prefixes eg. Upper Balandy, Nether Balandy, Lower Balandy to name a few). Latterly my fathers family lived and worked in or near Dufftown, where some elderly relatives still live. Although I lived near Dufftown I attended school in Keith but did not meet any other Mcconnachies there.

In my searches over many years I have amassed a lot of information which has been filed as "perhaps useful one day" so please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of help in any way in finding information on your relatives. Perhaps we may even be related!

Best wishes
Eileen Forbes (nee McConnachie)
