Thank you for your reply. We have the same (right) McConkey family. John and Elizabeth lived were married only 6 years after his father, James married Prudence Manlove so you must be right about John and Thomas being 1/2 brothers.
John, 42 b. in PA, and Elizabeth, 40 b. in N.C., are listed in Posey Twp,Fayette Co.,IN in 1850 with Lucinda 19, Geo. W. 18, Benjamin 16, William 14, and Sarah 10. Each of the children were born in Indiana. George was married to Sarah McCormack in Aug. 1852. Lucinda was married to Isaac in Wayne Co. 03/16/1837. I believe Sarah, the baby, married Abraham Studabaker.
I did not know John disappeared during the Civil War. Was is in connection with his being a soldier in the Civil War? For which side?
John's son G.W. McConkey and Sarah McConkey Studabaker both lived in Missouri. I believe many of the Riley's lived in Texas. I am still researching some of this.
I would love to know more about James and/or Thomas, etc.
