Shupaula - Are you sitting down? Have a bunch of info for you. Here goes Allan McComb - native of Scotland served 6 yrs in Rev. War. First located in Cumberland Valley, PA moved west to Indiana Co. settled near Armstrong Co. line in Eldersridge. Was a large landowner (300 acres).Farmer, Presbyterian, Whig (forerunner of Rep. party) died on the farm in 1829, buried in Ebenezer church cemetary in Conemaugh Twp. married Hannah Bovard of Cumberland Valley, sh's also buried at Ebenezer. They had 7 children
1. Robert
2. Charles
3.David m. Nancy McKalys
4.Allen m. Annie Patton
5. Jane m. Alexander Wilson - she lived to be 105.
6.Hannah m. William Cochran a soldier of the War of 1812
7. William -farmer at Eldersridge
#2 Charles son of Allan & Hannah McComb m. Mary McGuire, who was b. Dec. 1793 in Westmoreland Co. She was the dau. of John a native of Ireland and played the violin. She died 3/6/1876. Charles McComb died 7/29/1868. They had 4 children
1.Mary b.6/11/1820, m. Andrew Ewing, d. South Bend, Armstrong Co. PA
2. Allen b. 11/11/1823, d. 11/3/1826
3. Hannah Jane b. 6/11/1829 AUNT OF JENNIE McCOMB HART
4 John b. 6/23/1834
The above mentioned John McComb, b. 6/23/1834 was married to Nancy Baxter who was b. in Armstrong Co., the dau. of William and Mary (Crawford) Baxter. John McComb and Nancy Baxter were m. in Armstrong Co. They had one child, JENNIE. Jennie was b. 3/12/1871. Her mother, Nancy d. 15 days later, 3/27/1871, and is buried in Olivet cemetary. Jennie was reared by Hannah McComb. Jennie went to Elderidge Academy (high school). She married John Alexander Hart (son of Robert and Martha (Patterson) Hart). He was involved in a planing mill business at West Lebanon, Indiana Co. PA It looks like his parents adopted a boy name Gilbert McComb.I got this stuff from a book about Indiana Co. at the DAR library.
