Andrew McComb (1779-1842) Family Bible.
I recently found an extremely old McComb family Bible among some letters and books that belonged to my late grandparents (Stiles and Katherine Farley Byrom of Georgetown, TX). We have no idea what family connection, if any, this Bible represents or where it came from.
The most extensive entry in the Bible's family record was made in 1833 by Andrew McComb (b. 8/26/1779). He records his parents, Geo. McComb(b.11/23/1738) and Rebeckah McKey (b.5/29/1744) as being married 9/6/1764, then lists his brothers and sisters as Samuel (b. 9/25/1765), Martha (b. 5/10/1768), Sarah (b. 5/18/1770), Rebeckah (b. 2/27/1772), Janet (b. 5/8/1774), Rachel (b. 1/31/1777), himself, and Margret (b. 4/15/1784).
Other birth and death entries are dated throughout the 1800's, but it's hard to determine where these folks fit in and who belongs to who, though most are named McComb (along with a few McCombs). The last entry reads "Dr. Jefferson Parks' wife, Rebecah McCombs, died in Waxahachie Texas Dec. 8-1886. Written by their daughter Mrs.(first name illedgible) Dunn. 1920."
The Bible itself is in rather poor shape, but is all there. It would be interesting to know how it came to my family's possession. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
