In 1880 George McComas born Kentucky lived next door to Thomas J. Pierce (also born Kentucky) in Barry County, Missouri. Thomas J. Pierce's son James M. Pierce migrated to Independence County, Arkansas (Batesville). James M. Pierce's son Perry Pierce married Nancy Ann Meeker, daughter of Asa Meeker.
By 1900 James M. Pierce was in Hood County, TX

James M. Pierce moved on to Jones County, Texas. By 1930 there was only a Mary E. Pierce, widow age 37, in Hood County, and she's listed as a sister to one James "McAmis."
I wonder if that might be a misspelling of "McComas." Perry Pierce's son Ross Pierce married a "Mollie McAmis" in 1916. Perhaps this was Mary McComas?
