The ancestor I'm trying to research (and have done since 1985 and keep hitting a brick wall) is NIXON Covey who was born March 1, 1791, in MD; he was said to have come from a place called "Happity Grass" (Havre de Grace? Hobbity Grass? Habbity Grass? place? plantation? I know there's a Havre de Grace in Harford Co, MD) but with all my research I still come up empty handed. I have a list of his family (in his own hand) and can document him forward but am unable to go past him to find his parents, any siblings, kin, etc; I've ordered 11 books on Caroline Co, MD trying to find just a glimmer of hope for him and will post anything I find regarding the Covey line. Nixon shows up in Montgomery Co, KY, on 1830 Census, Morgan Co, KY, on 1840 Census, Breathitt Co, KY, on 1850 Census and is on 1860 & 1870 Estill Co, KY, Census until he dies in 1879. He married Susan Willoughby, 1828, Montgomery Co, KY; was a teacher, preacher and was said to have been a surveyor but I've found nothing to verify that statement, just handed down in the family that he was.
