Finally found some old correspondence that I thought might fit your query. Unfortunately, the envelope and contents have been separated. I think this family was from the Long Prairie region of Minnesota.

Since, you state your Charles Nicholas was born 14 Apr 1887, I assume the Nick listed is the same person.
