McColls from Eastern USA to California in mid 1800's - how?
I know there were only three ways to cross the USA from East to California:
wagon train or on foot -
across the Panama area from Atlantic to Pacific Ocean
around the Horn of South America
or perhaps across Canada and sailing down to California?
Anyway :I think I have discovered how the McColls who went to California traveled:
The Panama Railroad was completed Jan 27, 1855.My grandfather
Francis Patridge McColl was born in San Francisco, CA in 1860.
I believe his family may have traveled on the Panama Railroad.
Anyone else have ideas about this?
