I am interested in the McColgin family of Hamilton County, IL and from PA ?, VA ?.

My great grandfather married as his second wife, Sarah [Hayes]McColgin Vaughn in 1836 in Hamilton County, IL. They had 5 children and celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. More amazing as Sarah [Sally] was married twice before. According to the 1850 Census she was from PA. Sarah was born around 1798 and married __?__ McColgin c1815 [Sarah was born 1798] and had 2 sons and 3 daughters before her husband died c1824?; Sarah 2d married William Vaughn by whom she had 4 more children before William died in 1835. William had a brother Samuel, and a Sister Elizaeth who married circa 1823 to Jesse Allen Moore somewhere in TN. They had 5 children and Sarah was a grandmother by the age of 32. Elizabeth [Vaughn] Moore died circa 1835 and Jesse then married Sarah 'Sally' Hayes, widow of ? McColgin and William Vaughn. This is a different Sarah then the one under discussion; however, I have just made contact with a descendant of McColing by his marriage to Sally. Jesse Moore and Sarah had a son Jesse Allen Moore who joined Co H. 6th IL Cavalry and came home on furlough and married Sarah Jerusha Jones, daughter of Elias Jones, died in War, and Betsy Damon who had came to IL from near Springfield VT.

Two of Sallys first daughters married York's in IL.
