The area you are looking for is Spiersbridge, Thornliebank. Today, in Thornliebank there is a Spiersbridge Road with a Business Park - at the end of the road is Spiersbridge Roundabout, which is near Rouken Glen Park.

Thornliebank is in East Renfrewshire. For info on the area try http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk. You can then access the Heritage Archives and there is a link to the Thornliebank Time Travellers Site. For information on the park, with photos, try http://www.roukenglen.org.uk.

Coincidentally, I live in the area and have McClurg ancestors (but mine are from Northern Ireland!)

From my own research, I would say the McClurgs may have originated in the far south-west of Scotland. From there some sailed across to Northern Ireland - where there are still McClurgs today. Some seem to have moved northwards towards South Ayrshire and beyond. There are very few McClurgs (of either spelling) in Scotland today as many families changed their surname to McLeod in the 19th century, making them hard to find.

Good luck with your research!
