I am impressed by the thorough research and hope that Judy Brown is still researching. I have not reviewed the records in KY, but found an interesting summary of the suit by Robert McClure's heirs in an old DAR book- DAR GRC KY S1 v 100 pp 69, "Bibles and Other records of KY Families 1944". This document is less detailed, but is consistent except for one diference. It infers that the David McClure married to Elinor was an heir of Arthur (vs the heir being a daughter Elinor McClure).
This interpretation is supported by recent DNA tests which show that a descendant of David McClure b. abt1772 VA d. abt 1807 Hardin KY is clearly related to the McClure clan who settled abt 1736 in the southern part of the Borden grant Augusta VA. This David McClure married Elizabeth Ashcraft 21 Feb 1792 in Nelson KY.
Early NcClure documents in southern Borden Grant Augusta VA show three brothers- Halbert McClure abt 1685 Ireland- d. abt 1753 Augusta VA, Nathaniel McClure, and John McClure d. abt 1706 Ireland d. abt 1748 Augusta VA.
The DNA test shows a close match between David NcClure and a descendant of Halbert McClure 1738-1782 (son of John McClure).
Genealogical info show Arthur McClure living near and interacting with the Halbert McClure clan in Augusta VA from 1749 to 1775 when Arthur sells out. No further tracks until Arthur shows up in Lincoln KY tax rolls starting in 1791.
Arthur's brother, Halbert McClure, moved his family to Washington VA abt 1771 with his mother-in-law's family- John and Isabel Summers. In 1782, Halbert was killed by Indians and by 1784 the families have moved to Lincoln KY in the area between Pleasant Hill and the KY River.
I think that it is likely that Arthur moved with his brother Halbert's family to Lincoln KY.
