My research has confirmed that I am a direct descendent of James Jackson McClure. He is my ggg grandfather. He and the family were living in Cherokee County, GA in 1850. His brother Robert and his wife Hannah A Cobb are buried in Bascomb Methodist Cemetery in Cherokee County. I took a picture of their headstones. Happy to forward it along. My searching has been difficult to find James Jackson McClure's father. I found a posting that stated John Graves McClure was the father but it cannot be confirmed. The Elizabeth McClure with Harriet and others are beleived to be from John Graves lineage. Also, James Jackson & Robert came to Lumpkin County, GA from SC. They are both in the 1840 Lumpkin Census. They probably tried to make their fortune during the GA gold rush in the early 1840's before moving to Cherokee County to farm. Their are several McClures buried in Bascomb, New Hope, and Liberty Hill - all in Cherokee County. I have pictures of all of the markers.
