Would Jesse McClure of your 2000 message be husband of Sara Covey McClure, farmer and civil war veteran of Jefferson Twp., Mahaska Cty., Iowa?Jesse, wife Sarah, son Odd Covey McClure, father, mother, & two brothers (died, apparently during/in the Civil War) are buried in Coal Creek Cem., Jefferson Twp., Mahaska Cty.
Sara Covey was a cousin of my great-grandfather, Hiram P. Covey. Her parents and several of her siblings are also buried at Coal Creek Cem. See FindaGrave.com for listings.
Jesse was wounded twice during the war, once at the Battle of Shiloh, and had a son, Odd Covey McClure, and a grandson, also named Odd Covey McClure, both of whom died tragically at early ages.I have at least one photo of he and wife Sara in later years, if of any value to you.
