Looking for any information on Admiral John McClure who was born in Kircudbright in 1837 and who died at Garlieston, Wigtownshire on 19 January 1920. He was aged 83. His wife was Helen Rodger who died on 31 May 1915 aged 64.
John McClure had been a Vice-Admiral in the Imperial Chinese Navy in 1895. I'm looking for any of his history before and after 1895. He probably had some service in the Royal Navy at some point.
