William 'Bill' Jackson McClure, 85, Chilhowie, VA, passed
away Sunday, June 21, 2009, in the Smyth County Community
Hospital.
Mr. McClure was born January 23, 1924, in Smyth Co VA, to
the late Samuel Jackson McClure and Lucy Sturgill McClure.
He was retired from Southwestern Virginia Mental Health
Institute after 27 years of service. He was a member of
Chilhowie Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his wife, Margaret Hubble McClure.
Survivors include his sons, Billy and Jo Ann McClure,
Madison Heights, VA, and Max and Teresa McClure, Chilhowie,
VA; one brother, Gerald McClure and wife Barbara,
Chilhowie, VA; two sisters, Margaret Fore, Seven Mile Ford,
VA, and Shirley Rowland and husband Doug, Wytheville, VA;
four grandchildren, Chris and Wendy McClure, Manassas, VA,
Michael Ray and Elizabeth McClure, Abingdon, VA, Jason
McClure, Pigeon Forge, TN, and Jody and Andrea McClure,
Roanoke, VA; 12 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Mae Roland,
Chilhowie, VA; a special friend, Ella Kegley, Marion, VA;
and several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 23,
2009, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home, or any
time at the home of Max and Teresa McClure, 105 Evergreen
Court, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,
June 24, 2009, from the Bradley's Funeral Chapel in
Chilhowie, with the Rev. Chuck Herrell and Matthew Herrell
officiating.
Interment will follow in Macedonia Church Cemetery.
