Mike,
My line of McClures settled in NY, Broome County to be exact. McClure Settlement is still there to this day. James is a family name for my line. The line stems from James McClure who arrived with the Ulster-Scot migration in very early 1700's to Boston. He died 1747 in Chester, NH. Some of his decendants stayed in New England (NH, Ma) and some to NY.
There were two other McClure lines in NY that I know of, but I have not made a connection to them.
James is a common name in all the McClure lines. I do have three James McClures that could fit your time line on the album. One James b. abt 1797 went to NY from Raymond, NH and died in NY and we know nothing more about him. I have another James that was b. 1836 in NY and married a girl named Hannah. Nothing more is known about him. There is one other in the time frame for which we know nothing else.
Are there any other names in the album? Do you think the date in the album is a birth date, married date or a death date? Any other clues at all? Thanks.
Dennis McClure
