re. William McClure (1809-1877) of Trimble Co. ,KY
I've not worked on my McClure ancestry for some time, but since I've just discovered that I've been working in the same building as a long lost cousin for the past year has inspired me to try again.
My ggg-grandfather was William McClure (b. 19-Nov-1809, VA d. 30-May-1877, Trimble Co., KY).I was under the impression that he was born in Rockbridge Co., VA and that his father was one of the many Halbert/Holbert McClures, but I'm now not so certain of either of those things. It may be that his father was another William McClure and his mother may have been named Mary...
What I do know for certain, however, is that he married Jane Randol/Randoll/Randall (b. 1-Apr-1808, KY d. 2-Dec-1881, Trimble Co., KY) in Harrison Co., KY on 12-Nov-1838.Jane's parents were John and Mary Randol/Randoll/Randall.
It also appears that William and Jane Randol (etc.) McClure settled in Woodford Co., KY after they were married since the death certificate of their two oldest children state they were born in that county. This makes me wonder if their father, William McClure (1809-1877), might not have been from Woodford Co., KY in the first place.Perhaps he belongs, therefore, to one of the Woodford Co., KY McClure families...
I'll list the children of William and Jane in a follow-up message.
