Dear Brenda:
I also have these two McClure's.(Edward Tate McClure and William McClure).I wish I could get some proof of a connection. One of my correspondent(Don McClure of New Jersey) believes that William (born 1765 or 1771) could possibly be the father of my Edward Jefferson Tate McClure/McLure-born 1803 and died 1868.Mrs. Ethel Updike has Edward McClure, born ca. 1730 md. 1750(conjecture) to Miss Tate born ca. 1732 from Ireland.Mrss. Updike sometimes did not have everything correct. They Edward(1730) was in Augusta Co., Virginia.
There are the following McClure's listed around the 1780 to 1810 in the Pendleton District:John, Josiah,James,Charles,Samuel and George T.
I wish I could find out to which one mine belong.Would appreciate any help.
I have talked one time with a Dr. John Tate who lives part time in Calhoun Falls, SC and part time in Florida==this was several years ago but he was not able to connect me to the McClure line.
Thanks for answering.Jane Hall Barfield
