I have found a book entitled "Jeremiah and Alexander Clark of North Carolina and related families" by Robert Bradley Clark which I ordered at the FHC on film (film #2055504 item 4). It includes the McClird/McCleard/McClurd families and also other related families...Presswood/Prestwood, Vance, McKinney, Gragg and many others. The book is quite lengthy and I would love to purchase the book. If anyone has any knowledge of how to buy it, please let me know. It indicates that William Riley McClurd and his wife, Mary, were both born in Scotland and immigrated to America sometime prior to the birth of their son, Isaac, who was born around 1796. I will not vouch for the reliability of some of the information as there are some dates that are obviously incorrect in the decendancy charts as some of the marriages are given the year dates of 1000. William died when Isaac was young and there are no other children known from that marriage. Mary remarried a Mr. Long later and the story goes that Isaac ran away from home to the Grandfather Mountain area and was raised by the Clark family. Has anyone else seen this book and does anyone have any documentation for the information contained therein?
