Esther was an Amick, married John William Hylbert on 20 Feb 1823. After his death, she married 'Cranberry Joe' McClung 12 Aug 1841 in Nicholas County. After his death she moved to Wirt County to be near her son. I don't think she lived in a cave : )

In 1860 Easter McClung is showing age 55 as Head of Household in Wirt County with a post office of Zackville (pg 174 original records) Family #39 -- She is showing with sons Jacob McClung age 16 & Joseph McClung age 14. Zackville post office was located on Right Hand Reedy.

In 1870 census of Wirt Co, Reedy District Family # 9, she is showing with son Jacob McClung age 26 b. VA farmer and head of household and son Joseph age 24 b VA listed as laborer. She is showing age 65 b. in VA and keeping house.

May 30, 1895 Esther wrote a handwritten deed transferring her property to her son, Joseph McClung. The US pension records show she was dropped from pension roll July 31 1895 due to death. (She rec'd a pension based on Cranberry Joe McClung's service in War of 1812.) She is buried at Mt. William Church Cemetery in Wirt County, WV.
