In researching my GGGF, Lawrence McCown, the US census for Butler Co., KY, shows that his household included the subject individual, 30 years of age at the time, and also Jane Gaston, 25 years of age. Jane Gaston later married one of Lawrence's sons, Leander McCown. Lawrence McCown was born somewhere in South Carolina ca 1790-1792 and is later shown as marrying Sally McCrea in Washington Co., VA in 1815. They had two sons, William, born 1815, and Eli, born 1818, in Washington Co., VA and then is next mentioned in the 1820 census of Simpson Co., KY. The McCown families are then shown in Butler and Logan Cos., KY until 1895. I think that the McClung and Gaston mentioned might have moved along with the McCowns from South Carolina to KY. Please contact me if you have any information pertaining to a McClung who could fit this discription.
