This seems like an active and supportive group! I'm trying to track down information about an Isabel McCloy who reportedly married Alexander Leggett. I am descended from their son, Archibald Leggett, b:18 Sep 1801, Lancaster County, PA, d: 30 Jul 1854, Cecil Twp, Washington Co, PA.
I came to this assumption via a record of the death of Archibald that names Alexander and Isabel his parents. This information was reported by "Alexr McCloy (McClay)". Could this be Isabel's brother?
The 1850 census for Cecil Twp, Washington Co, PA lists Archibald Legget and family. One page later we find Alex McCloy (59 yrs) and family as well as that of Samuel D. McCloy (42 yrs.).
Archibald Ligget is found in the 1840 census in Robinson Twp, Allegheny County, PA. With his family is one male, 60-69 which could be his father. No woman of comparable age is listed so, if this is the same family, Isabel may have passed away by then.
I have more info and would love to correspond -- and see if we have connections.
