Wendi! It was a pleasure reading your post. I really appreciate the list of children of Elmo and Evelyn. I have already copied it down and added it to my growing file of McCloy history. My father told me years ago that my middle name, Patrick, is in honor of his older (infant) brother who died soon after being born. My father followed later, and he said that as a child he was always fascinated about his 'older' brother he never knew. Perhaps your father was named by Elmo for the same reason? I remember Rodney from my trip to Montana back in 85, as we were fairly close in age. In hindsight, I wish I had paid more attention to the people I met, but at the time (I was only 15) I didn't know that I would one day be trying to track down our family's history. (I teach high school history, so I have come to a deeper appreciation for the odd winds that blow people around the world.) I possibly met your father Patrick, but unfortunately I don't remember the encounter. My father and my brother Collin travelled to Northern Ireland back around 99 or 2000 I believe, and they spoke of Mr. Whiteford quite fondly. I saw the pictures of the old family home they took, which included an old crib or baby bed. (I think. I don't have the pictures myself.) To add to the list of people who bear the name McCloy, (in case others are also looking on this thread and for future reference) I will include my siblings. Children of Albert J. McCloy and Frances R. (Wolfe) McCloy John Shawn Darin Kevin Kathleen Collin My father died in April of 2005 just a few weeks shy of his 70th birthday, and I am compiling a history of the McCloy's in his honor. Again, thank you for your post. If you are in communication with any of the people you listed above, perhaps you could turn them on to this website and have them read and maybe contribute as well? It would be thrilling to have more of us add to the history being compiled here. Kevin McCloy Morganton, NC Notify Administrator about this message?
