Are you speaking of McClung in East TN?

The short answer is I don't have a clue.

It would seem to be a possibility that one or more similar spellings in the mountains just might be related, but it's hard to say at this time.

I would suggest that you look at the YSearch website, periodically, & run searches & comparisons. I've only seen 1 sample of McClung DNA so far, so you can't really say.

The McCloughans who came early spent time in Northumberland County PA. A lot of the families in the mountains went south out of Northumberland County & the surrounding area.

Sorry I can't give you a better answer.
