I have been trying to find the parents for my great great grandmother, Annie McCloskey. She was born in Pittsburgh approximately approximately 1856.

Legend has it it my gr. grandmother, Frances, was illegitimate. I have not found a birth certificate and don't know. I do know that Annie married John A. Burbaw and eventually the family ended up in California. John was from NYC. I believe he adopted my great grandmother. So far as I can tell, she looked nothing like her sibblings, so it may be true.
