Ireland/Canada History(Charles McClory)
My grandfather Charles McClory married to (Mary Marky) emmigrated from Ireland to Canada in the late 1919 to early 1920's and settled in the City of Toronto. They had children, Son James Daniel McClorey born 30 May 1924, daughters Catherine born ? and Patricia born ?. Charles died in Toronto in 1930 of pnemonia and buried in Mount Hope Cemetary in Toronto, Canada. The family was parishoners of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Downtown Toronto in the Cabbagetown area. I'm requesting any information on my grandfathers history from back in Ireland to the time he arrived in Canada. My fathers surname was spelled differently due to my grandfather and his brother Joe disputing over the proper spelling of the McClory name. My father from the day he was born spelled his name McClory. When heenlisted into the Royal Canadian Airforce during the Second World War he required he birth certificate. He went to the Registrar General Office in Toronto. It took many hours to locate his birth certicicate. The clerk advised my father that his name was spelled McClorey not McClory as he onced believed. It was learned that when my father was born, his Uncle Joe registered the birth and not my Grandfather. That's why the name has changed here in Canada.
Further there is apparently a Family Coat of Arms and a tartan that the McClory name has adopted. If anybody knows what they are could you please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Sean Michael McClorey
