Joseph McClory, was born on Friday, 10th May 1844 at Maxwelltown.Joseph became a labourer.He married Jane Murphy, a dairymaid, at Dumfries on 17th April 1866.They had the following children, all registered at Troqueer:
Mary Murphy, born in May 1865 (died 16th July 1865)
Matthew McClory, born on 4th September 1866
Mary McClory, born on 20th May 1868
Jane Annie Bell McClory, born on 8th April 1870
John McClory, born on 7th July 1871 (died aged 2 on 31st December 1872)
Roger McClory, born on 7th July 1873
Joseph McClory, born in 1875
Margaret McClory, born in 1877
James McClory, born in 1880/1
John McClory, born in 1883.
Jospeh was the son of
Matthew McClory (1811-1885)(grandfather of Matthew)
Married Bridget Murphy in Ireland before coming to Scotland around 1837-39; they had 4 children.
he was the son of
Matthew McClory (1789–1859)(great-grandfather of Matthew)
Who was born in Ireland and later and married to Helen Cunningham in Ireland. They and their 7 (or possibly 9) children moved to Scotland at some point prior to 1841.
