McClinton Tartan

This is another subject in which I saw no deifnite answer and thought I would try and shed some light. The McClinton name is a spelling variation of the McClintock name. Therefore we may wear the McClintock or more properly the MacLintock tartan. The MAcLintocks were never recognized by the Lord Lyon court as a Clan of their own. We are a sept of the MacDougall or the Colquhoun clan. Therefore we may wear either. Another prospect is the Gallowat district tartan. It would be from where are ancestors lived similiar to a county here in the U.S. I wear a MacLintock tartan and claim association with the Colquhouns you may choose as you like. I just know that the Colquhouns have treated me with respect and like family. I hope this helps!
If I Can,
Mark Nuss
