Alexander original never had a son Eston. The only thing I have ever seen that would suggest that is that he had a daughter Esther that was mis-transcribed at least once, I think in the work of Calvin McClintock in the 1950's. Calvin was a judge, and his work came from two sources - land records and family memory from reunions in the 1950's. His work is the baseline for all the rest of us descendents, but it has mistakes, and unfortunately they have been copied too many times without checking. I believe there is a very early land patent (1780's or 90's) under the name Eston McClintock in Somerset that was the source of this suspicion of another son. However, I have searched newspapers, census info, diaries, Alexander's will, wills of his sons, etc. and there has never been another mention of an Eston of that age group or generation. In my opinion, Alexander filed a false patent to increase his lands.
That said, there are several Estons among his descendants. Alexander original's son William had an Eston (1808-1856), involved in the Hanna brawl, fled to Kosciusko Co. Indiana and died there. Alexander original's son John also had an Eston (1825 - at least 1876), married, stayed in Somerset as a farmer, had 7 kids. There are two Eston's in the next generation (one yours, one son of Mitchell (1799). There aer also some in the Cunningham family.
Since you are working on William and Elizabeth's family, I am interested in their kids. I have Alexander and Polly (by the way, be careful, there is another Alex/Polly couple in this generation, he son of Robert, she a McClintock cousin), Mitchell and two wives, Big Eston/Mary Ruple, Abigail/Jacob Ruple, Rachel/Elijah Frush, and some I'm not sure about:
Is there a Robert, married Harriet Mitchell, moved to WV?
Is there a daughter born around 1810?
Is there a John? (I know no more except name)
Is there a Sarah Jane married John Black?
Is there a William, born 1804, possibly died 1817?
I'm grateful for any info you have to share
Denise
