Willis McLendon died 1815 Wilkinson County, Ga
I am looking for the will of Willis McLendon's (McClendon) who died in Wilkinson County, Ga 1814-15.On page 139 of The McLendon's of America by Melba Goff Allen states Mason McLendon and Elisha Padgett were the administrator of Willis McLendon, Sr estate. The will was supposedly probated in Edgefield County, SC.
I have copies the Wilkinson County Ga Estate Records of Return 1820-1853 from the Washington Memorial Library in Macon, Ga.Mason McLendon was the administrator of Willis McLendon, dec,d estate. Willis McLendon (deceased) had three minor children;
Mason, Frances, John (Jack) Willis.The Record's show in 1821 Willis' estate paid the expenses for the three minor children Mason, Frances and John (Jack)Willis McLendon.In 1822, Willis Mclendon's (deceased) estate paid Solomon Murphy (wife Elizabeth McLendon) and John Barnett (wife Nancy McLendon) for their portion of land.When the annual returns were filed in 1825 for the year 1824, John (Jack) Willis McLendon was DECEASED.
The book “Wills and Cemeteries Wilkinson County Georgia 1817-1920” by Maddox list Mason McLendon as DECEASED and his will were probated October 23, 1826. It also list Mary Brooks as his mother.
