I'm sorry to hear that records are missing from the Jasper County courthouse. On a research trip to Monticello in 1976, I extracted Isaac McClendon's will as follows:
In the name of God, Amen, - I, Isaac McClendon of the State of Georgia and County of Jasper being in a low state of bodily health, but of sound mind and memory ...
2. And whereas I have already given unto my son Ethelred (sic) McClendon, - lot of land number twenty four in the sixteenth district formerly Baldwin, now Jasper County, I do hereby confirm that same unto him the said Ethelred, his heirs and assigns forever ... (also one horse, cow, calf, and featherbed.)
3. And whereas I did also give unto my son Allen five hundred dollars for the purpose of purchasing lot number thirty eight in the 19th district formerly Baldwin, now Jasper Co ... (Also one horse, cow, calf, featherbed, same as Etheldred)
4. And further I do confirm unto my son Wylie F. a tract of land number 22 in the 16th district, formerly Baldwin, now Jasper Co... (same as Etheldred, plus $100)
5. I do likewise confirm unto my son Jonathan, his heirs and assigns forever, $1400, which I have already paid him, and $864, for which he has my note, due on the 25th day of December ... (same as Etheldred)
6. I do likewise will unto my son Freeman on lot of land number 9 in the 16th district formerly Baldwin, now Jasper ... (same as Etheldred)
7. I do likewise confirm unto my son James one horse ... (no land)
