Hi,
I think we're related. My great great great great grandfather was John McClymont born abt 1793 to Archibald McClymont and Henrietta Cunninghame. John a manufacturer married Janet Glen, actress in an irregular marriage 19 September 1832 in Barony, Lanark, Scotland. It would have been quite a scandal in those days being irregularly married and to an actress, especially as his sister Henrietta was to marry the Rev John Calder less than a year later.
I'm descended from John McClymont and Janet Glen's daughter Jane who married William Swan.
John's brother James McClymont was partner and owned a third of Thomas Wingate & Co a shipbuilding Company in Glasgow and died in 1 October 1859 whilst staying in a hotel in Limerick, Ireland leaving an estate of £13,835 ( equivalent to £641832.13 in 2001).
I have a lot of info on the family lines, and am willing to swap info. Am at present trying to locate obituaries for John and his brothers from the Mitchell library so again willing to share information.
