Hi Bud,
My GGG grandmother was a Janet McClymont, born in Maybole or Girvan 1796-98. Married a John Welsh b.1794, and had 12 children. I carry the name McClymont as a middle name. Both were buried in Dalmellington, Ayrshire. She died Feb 6 1872. Believe her father was a James McClymont and mother, Ann McEwen also of Maybole and Girvan. Unfortunately, don,t have much more than that but believe
Dalmellington had several McClymont families in the 1800s.
Dalmellington and Maybole are only a few miles apart.
A number of the Welshes emigrated from Scotland at that time.
Not sure if there is any connection but will keep digging.
Tom McClymont Welsh
