Good Eve Nancy. I read your msg twice and then had to do it the third after I cut in here to remember your name!.
Well, Nancy, I believe you have the matter nicely by the tail and like the tiger, one is afraid to let go or to tighten up.Firstly, and I caution, it is my perception with some maybe 98 percent of realization, for some reason ( is that enough disclaimers?) ;; but McClelland with the 'd' termination is """"for"""" whatever that means, Northern Ireland.. I do not see it that way... I am not sure about only one thing with surnames, all originally were Adam and some got in trouble and put the Mc or what ever on the front. But as all who have experience with genealogy and writing caligraphy and original region of origin and level of hearing and conceiving and education etc ad infinitum anything can come along.. And you can BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR ON IT-- whatever it is IT IS THE ULTIMATE GOSPEL CORRECTNESS..I avoid the use of the word ""right"" because it and correctness are on opposite side of the coin.
And another thing, there is in no surname sequence where there is simply a single name for all living persons today who ascribe to it.. After, the hosts and sponsors of this website advertize and brag that we now have access to some 1 or 1.2 or 2 or 2.3 million surnames!! and then they stick in the comment '''of all vaiants"".. I have a central european ancestor whose name I have seen on the Ellis Island (or similar) lists as """FFF"" and I bet that is actually the way it sounded to what ever nationality who was doing the recording.
And all that also leads me into the '''past president'''classification..That is what I believe the gentleman told me.He did mention the name of some successor but at what period of chronology I do not know..((this machine is sure typing oddly now))..Spacing and line return..At the end of the reference I made several days ago is ONE OF THE MANY MANY (I AM SURE) Kirking of the Clans (and please just wrap all the above about the numeration of them herein alone !!!)I think it is just a fine place here near Huntsville where there is a little pond and a big place of green grass and hot hot sun and some ''root beer'' and funny' hamburgers abd and telephone pole tossing and dog chasing sheep and ducks etd..I go to see what may be new in the vendors in the way of books or literature..I always try to be close enough to the band stand to hear the National Anthem and salute with my hat off...What we need is a ''forum'' of ''forums'' and a listing of all the clan things incidently 10 persons meeting is just as great as 2000 ..And then I guess we could elect a president of all forums... I have to go back a bit and re emphazie (or is is with an 's' ?) I just do not see how there is just a singular one.. Need to get along Nancy.. Nice to hear you (or see the bottoms of your fingertips and fingerprints)) Cannont say """BEST''' to you because that is one of my ancestral surnames..Luck and cheerios.... c u ljim
