Chris: The ships were not built in Portadown. The lady that wrote the letter lived in Portadown. There were many vessels owned by Porterferry.
Sara & Elizabeth was built in Porta ferry in 1806 and sailed to Quebec and St. Andrews. On Jan 2, 1813 she was boarded by an American privateer and looted of everything moveable and was on the point of being set on fire when a ship hove in sight and privateer cleared off. The "Porterferry" was bilt in Workington in 1910. Her master and owner was James Pollock and he sailed her from Portaferry to St Andrews, Newbrunswick until 1827.
