Galloway is in Scotland. Galway is in Ireland. Scottish soldiers and adventurers were "planted" to Ireland by Elizabeth I and in Oliver Cromwell's time. These became the "Scots-Irish" largely in Ulster province. These were largely protestant.
Also, Irish emigrated to Scotland seeking work. Both the pure scots and pure Irish had relatives in the other country. These were mainly Catholic.
