The McCleary/McClure name confusion has created problems for a lot of researchers including me. Hopefully the following will help.

The Augusta County, VA McClures are ancestors of former President George Herbert Walker Bush, and his son of course. The information is readly available and interesting.

The McClure's arrived in the Colony of Virginia before 05 June 1739 because that is when James McClure,Sr. received a Land Grant in Beverley Manor. James and his family immigrated from Northern Ireland. The family included, James. Jr., Samuel, Halbert, John, Nathaniel and William. James Jr.s family is the Bush line. His family included, wife Agnes, John, Andrew, Eleanor, Jean, James, Samuel and Esther.

All of James McClure, Sr.s family settled in Augusta County, VA and with their descendants there was a lot of them.

Again the McClures are not related to the McClearys. Glain
