ISAAC PERDUE HITCHCOCK was born April l, l839, in Richard County, Ohio, died at the home of his sister, MRS. M.V. MCCLEARY, on Sunday, Dec. 20, l903, his age being 64 years, 8 months and 20 days, and leaving four children, none of whom were present. He removed from Richard County with his parents in l857 to Des Moines County, Iowa, and two years later to Decatur County. In August, l86l, he enlisted in Co. L, Third Iowa Cavalry, served about two years in the U.S. Army in defense of his country; was discharged on account of injuries received in the line of duty; afterward when partially recovered enlisted in the Secret Service and was a trusted aid to General Rosengrant until the close of the war, at which time he went to Lebanon, Mo., and was there united in marriage to MISS HULDA BENNETT, who died about three years later at their home in Missouri, leaving one child, a boy about two years old, at the time of her demise.

In the spring of l869 he removed to Kansas where he was married to MISS SARAH ANN PRICE, but unfortunately she only lived a few years, leaving him to lead a lonely life. From this time on he lived in various places. His health has been declining for some years and for the past year and a half he has been unable to walk. He spent a portion of this time at the Military Hospital at Leavenworth, Kansas, but came to his old home in Iowa to spend his last days and has been among his relatives for about three months. He was a member of the Friends Church and passed peacefully away in full assurance of faith in Christ.

The funeral services were held at the Friends Church at High Point, Dec. 2lst, at 2 p.m., Rev. J.W. Ford officiating.
