Diane, we have a Mary Ann McClarence (age 24 in 1884) from Brandon, County Durham, who married John Murphy (age 27 in 1884)from Willington County Durham. They were married in Will County, Illinois January 14, 1884.......On their marriage certification document, her name was spelled "McLarnes" but McClarence was always used by her descendants. Her father was named Henry McLarnes and mother Bridget Leonard (first letter of last name assumned)on that same document. We found one "McClarance", in the 1900 Census of Braceville Twsp. Grundy County,Illinois. That name was "Henry" age 76, with wife Ellen age 77 both born in Ireland and son--32yr old Thomas, born in England. Personally, I think this identify's her parents, even though mother is named Ellen instead of Bridget.
Have seen several of your postings and these people sure appear to be from the same clan.
