Hello John ... Samuel Mitchell McClanahan b. 1772 in Laurens County, SC d. 1857 in Shelby County, Alabama is my gr-gr-great grandfather. I have not been able to locate any of his siblings or his parents anywhere. Right now I don't believe I'm related to the Virginia family of McClanahans. My tree follows Samuel Mitchell, Samuel A. b. abt 1820 in Shelby Co., AL (married M. Emily Rushing), and Susan "Sudie P." McClanahan b. 1853 Shelby Co., AL d. 1893 in TX(married Charles Z. Bridge 28 Dec 1871 in Fannin County, Texas). One of their children was Henry Linden, my grandfather. Do you have any idea who Samuel Mitchell McClanahan's ancestors were and where they came from?
