Dear Rebecca: I believe we are related, altho maybe the long way around.
My Grandmother McCay was born in Alabama to the best of my knowledge. Her father's name was Samuel and he was a farmer and itinerant Preacher.I don't have my geneology papers nearby. Samuel had several wives, and I believe Medley Adams McCay (supposedly she was a relative of Samuel Adams) was Grandmother's mother. She died several days after my grandmother was born. Not long after, Sam remarried. I believe Julius Bensen McCay (Bensen) has now passed away but I am not positive.
My grandmother had several brothers and sisters -
Grandmother (Ellie Ethel McCay Moore) had a very beautiful blond sister and she was burned to death in a prairie fire outwest when the wind flung some sparks against her clothing My grandmother had black hair and blue eyes and thought the other sister was the prettier..
Grandmother had a brother Tim, and he became a Dr in Alabama.
Henry Albert Moore and my grandmother were married and moved to Wash DC.He has served in WWI in France. They had two children, Harry Moore, who served in WWII in the Pacific, and Anna Ruth Moore (called Ruth) - who married my father, Robert Phillips, and they had 5 children, of which I am the oldest. My father, Robert, was from PA, and served in WWII in China. We are Christina, Dane, Bob, Paul and Becky. Becky has 8 children, the oldest of whom is a Marine.
Harry Moore married Virginia Sullivan and they also had 5 children, in Rockville, MD. Virginia is 72 now and is dying of cancer. Harry killed himself in the early 70s. I am in touch with several of the relatives.
My sister's name is Rebecca also. When you write me back, I will try to find all my information and share what I can with you and give you the name of a relative who writes to me every so often.
