Hi Fern, I have traced our Chapmans back to Henry Levi (b. 1764) who is said to have been born in SC. His wife was Lavinia Mobley. They had 14 kids, some born in SC; some near Fairfield, SC; some in Alabama, and some in Georgia. I think all of my line died somewhere besides SC. I have most of this posted on http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=tonyf
A lot of the data came from LDS. I haven't been able to break through the 1764 brick wall and get to Henry Levi's parents.

There is another Chapman line that starts with Ben, a preacher, from Connecticut. They also have a Levi born in the same year as our Levi Clay. Wrong month and day!

Tony
