Can anyone share any information on Angus McCaskill listed on the 1840 Montgomery Co. NC East Pee Dee River (which would now be Stanly County), census as follows:
Angus McCaskill Males 10/15 (1) (1825/1830) 30/40 (1) 1800/1810 Females 0/5 (2) (1835/1840) 20/30 (1) 1810/1829) 30/40 (1800/1810)
He does not show up in the 1850 Montgomery nor Stanly County census. There are no McCaskins in Stanly County in 1850.
Does anyone have any information on this Angus McCaskill or his family?
I ask because of a Revolutionary War Pension file # W18860 for Euphemia Campbell, widow of John Campbell, Jr. whom he married in Bladen Co. NC 23 Feb 1781. They are the parents of eight children therein named.
On an 1852 affadavit made by Euphemia (Effy) Campbell, the widow, she lists the following surviving children:
(1) Catherine Downie (2) Euphemia Martin (3) Archibald Campbell (4) Ann McCaskill as the only surviving children now known living.
Her statement that Ann McCaskill was alive in 1852 does not seem to be able to be confirmed based on her not being on the 1850 census of Montgomery Co. NC or elsewhere.
While back tracking the McCaskill families to the 1840 Montgomery Co. NC census, the only male head of household by the name of McCaskill who does not show up in the 1850 Montgomery County census turns out to be Angus McCaskill.
I don't know anything about Angus McCaskill of the 1840 census and am wondering if his wife could be Ann (Campbell) McCaskill born August 3, 1804 in Bladen Co. NC. John Campbell, Jr. and wife Euphemia (Campbell) Campbell moved to Montgomery Co. NC in 1805 from Bladen Co. NC according to Euphemia Campbell's Revolutionary War widow's pension file.
Any information will be much appreciated.
