You and I are indeed from the same Finlay and I follow Angus.
There is not much on Finlay, but I will give you what i have.
Born: 1700 in Bointure, Skye Isle, Inverness, Scotland
Died: 1769 Skye Isle, Inverness, Scotland (One source claimed he did not die where he was born, while others say be moved away from the Bointure area.
Many sources say he married a MacLeod daughter, maybe a Rachel, but the first name has yet to be confirmed. I list her as "Unknown MacLeod" in my work.
As for his parents, I found one source that claimed the follow as his parents...
Allen McCaskill (1675-? Isle Skye, Scotland)
Christian Bethune (1690-? Isle Skye, Scotland)
The source was very questionable and my aunt who has been tracing our line for decades says that there is nothing out there on Finlay's parents that she knows of and is most likely false. I went ahead and added them to my tree, but they are covered in question marks.
You have all his children correct. My tree contains 177 people at the moment and I have yet to link myself to Finlay on my tree, though my aunt has already done so. I just wanted to do it myself instead of copying her work.
I have that John only had one son, Alexander Daniel born 1776, is this true?
