Carol, I believe we have two different lines. 'Our' Joseph was born in 1802, but had siblings of John, Polly, and others. Funny how the same names follow in different McCarty lines. Ours are known to be in Washington & Marion Cos. Kentucky. We have Justin McCarty born abt 1754 in Pa., married to 'Mary'. Justin was documented to run a 'Little A B C School in Washington Co. in 1820. Justin & Mary had 9 children. We have seen posted another Justin born 1776-7 who we believe is Justins son, & we also believe Justin #2 is the father of our 'known' decendent, Joseph McCarty. Joseph married Miriah Mercer 1824 and married Theresa Thorp 1853. We have the list of Joseph's & Miriah's and Joseph & Theresa's children. Our problem is tying Justin #2 to Justin #1, we've found no documentation as of yet. Also no documentation yet tying Justin #2 as being the father of Joseph. In Justin #1's will, it states children, but only names 2 by name, Samuel & I believe John [don't have copy in front of me to copy from & we know he had 9 children] due to proximity of households in census, and bith & marriage records, we can place all, EXCEPT who the patriarch is, and if Justin #1 or #2 is Josephs father. We believe since Justin #1 is documented in the Revolutionary War, signing up in Pa., he more than likely was born in Pa.
Also most records were burned in Marion Co. in Civil War raids by Morgan. Got any ideas for us???? Thanks, Judy
